Gerald Eze – Oja Dance + Uchu

December 27th, 2023
Gerald Eze

Ùchú is a modern African song rooted in Igbo rhythms. Ùchú is originally the name of a Holy and Healing river in Aguata Local Government of Anambra State. The town where this river is located Umuchu.

This song extols spirituality and with two major Igbo musical instruments, Oja and Uboaka, Gerald Eze recites the Psalm 23 in Igbo. This is a song of one who connects to the divine Oneness as the flock relates with their shepherd. The second verse is a popular Igbo folk song, “Inine”. The story shows the spirits of the water on one hand as dreadful and on the other hand as kind and listening.

The third verse calls on the Igbo race to trust God as he leads them to greatness from all the challenges they have suffered as a people.
